Thrilling Conkers adventure
Our new Year 7 students certainly enjoyed an action-packed start to their Judgemeadow journey, as they attended a pulsating trip to the Conkers adventure centre, located in the heart of the National Forest, on the first Friday of the new academic year.Alongside 18 staff members – comprising Year 7 tutors and the Head/Associate Head of Year – the 170-strong cohort had fun taking part in a variety of activities, all of which were designed to increase confidence and encourage teamwork.
Our new students arrived at Judgemeadow from over 20 feeder primary schools. This trip, therefore, was the perfect icebreaker, allowing them all to familiarise themselves with their peers, make new friends and form positive relationships with their form tutors, in an environment away from the classroom.
Students soared on the high and low ropes circuits, took part in a barefoot walk, strolled through a sensory garden and clambered through the challenging obstacle course.
The highlight for many, though, was learning all about Bushcraft – the skills needed to survive in a natural environment. Students constructed shelters from sticks and logs and were even able to build their own campfire, on which they very much enjoyed toasting (and eating) marshmallows.
A hugely enjoyable experience and the perfect induction into the Judgemeadow family.
Well done, Year 7!
