Tea and cake with the Lord Mayor
In December, six students from Year 7 to Year 10 joined Associate Principal Alex Grainge on a special visit to meet Leicester’s Lord Mayor, Bhupen Dave.Selected for their fantastic work in languages this term, the students were warmly welcomed into the mayor’s private office and engaged in insightful conversations with him and the Lady Mayoress.
Over tea, cake, and sandwiches, they discussed a range of relevant topics, including the history of Leicester and the values of modern Britain. Students also enjoyed sharing their experiences and speaking about the activities they participate in during our annual Culture Day celebrations.
As the conversation progressed, the students gained a fascinating insight into the world of politics and the roles and responsibilities that come with being Lord Mayor.
Commenting on the experience, Year 8 student Durvesh said: “Thank you to the Lord Mayor for his warm hospitality. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the opportunity to learn more about Leicester’s history and values.”
