A Celebration of Culture

On Friday, 11th April, we hosted our fourth annual Culture Day, a vibrant celebration that brought the community together to celebrate the variety of backgrounds that make our school so unique. This event was a testament to the unity and diversity within the college, showcasing colourful performances, delicious foods from around the world, and immersive cultural traditions.

In the lead-up to Culture Day, students participated in various competitions, including digital poster design, art poster creation, and a poetry contest. Year 8 student Shaaha won the poetry competition with a brilliant poem about Sri Lanka, while Year 9 student Adam impressed judges with his digital display on Europe and Asia.

The day was filled with excitement, featuring dance troupes who had been hard at work rehearsing their performances. A special culture day lunch menu offered a culinary journey around the globe, allowing everyone to savour diverse flavours. All week, students feasted on Jamaican jerk chicken, Mexican enchiladas, Portuguese peri peri chicken and Italian pizza, before concluding with a British classic - fish and chips - on Friday!

Adding to the festivities, the school also hosted a brilliant fashion show where students showcased their heritage through an array of colourful outfits, celebrating their diverse backgrounds with pride and style.

Our wonderful diversity ambassadors played a crucial role in organising the event, ensuring that it not only celebrated our differences but also strengthened the bonds within our community.

The day was much more than just an event; it was a celebration of unity, creating unforgettable memories and affording students a deeper appreciation for the diverse world we live in.
