Delegations from Bulgaria and Krefeld visit school

Judgemeadow played host to overseas visitors on two occasions recently. A delegation from Bulgaria visited during the Easter holidays. On another occasion the Mayor of Krefeld, Leicester's twin city, visited as part of a city tour.

visit by a delegation from KrefelD

The purpose of the visit was to celebrate 50 years of Leicester twinned with Krefeld. As a school I now believe it is about 36 years if not longer.

The Mayor flew in early so that he could come to JCC to meet staff and students.

After a welcome by Jason Smith the group were taken on a tour of the college with Ambassadors and were particularly interested to see ICT and how it was used . They were very impressed and could not believe that every classroom had an interactive whiteboard and how teachers used the boards to teach. We walked into a few classrooms and impressed was an understatement.

This was followed by a showcase from our Orchestra led by Michael Fenton and assisted by Stuart Mee. The pianists were amazing too. The Orchestra played 'A Million dreams' which is a song from the Greatest Showman. The story tells about people from all walks of life coming together to produce the greatest show on earth. Our 'twining' is similar as no matter where you are, who you are, what you are, what Language you speak, 'twinning' brings people together. There were a few of us quite emotional and the Chairman of Cleta gave a very emotional speech.

Our next stop was our Sports facilities where the delegation watched various Sports and spoke to Leanne Taylor. Our students performed very well and all greeted the visitors as they left the pitch. This was followed by lunch (prepared by Cheryl and her team)  and discussion and a presentation.

The following day we had the official signing at the Town Hall. The Leicester Lord Mayor opened his speech thanking Judgemeadow CC for opening the celebrations up by hosting our visitors and said that they had told him how impressed they were with all staff and students. This was reiterated by the Krefeld Lord Mayor with a wonderful speech about our school.

I was presented with a special CD for our Music department at the evening celebrations. The Krefeld Deputy Lord Mayor asked me if every school in the UK was expected to be a such a high standard as Judgemeadow CC. I had to smile!

An amazing weekend and so so proud to be part of JCC. To me we are JCC, but in the past few weeks to have visitors who have nothing by real praise for us must say something about what we are doing!

Delegation from Bulgaria

The above delegation from Bulgaria visited our school during the Easter Holidays.

Deputy Mayor:Mr Velin Balkanski

Mr  Deyan Yanev (Head FLS)

Julieta Terzieva

They were taken on a tour of the school and looked at teaching rooms too. They watched part of a Dance Festival taking part here at school. They were extremely impressed with the Technology and Science Departments and our ICT too.
They were meant to leave at 3pm but did not leave till 5pm
We had a working lunch with Jason who although on official leave joined our delegation for the day. The working lunch talked in depth about transition and GCSE's and where our students progressed after GCSE's.
They were very impressed by what they saw albeit there were no students on site.
