"My name is Umer, I am a year 9 student at Judgemeadow Community College. Throughout the week I do a lot of different activities including swimming for a local club – Leicester Neptune Swimming Club.

"Earlier in the year we decided to challenge ourselves by taking part in a relay Channel swim. I shall be swimming with my club members Sam, Kate, Maciej, Katie and Charlie. To sponsor me visit

As a career, I would like to be involved in sports, either coaching or go into physiotherapy. This links in well with our charity Aspire.

A little bit about Aspire

“Every eight hours in the UK someone
is paralysed by a spinal cord injury; it can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life...

... Aspire exists because there is currently no cure. We provide practical help to people who have been paralysed by spinal cord injuries, helping them move from injury to independence.

Our services include: Aspire Grants, Aspire Housing, Independent Living, Welfare Benefits Advice, Assistive Technology, Campaigning and Research”.

Some real life stories can be found on the following link;

As you can see, it is a worthwhile charity which is changing lives for people affected by spinal cord injuries so please me help achieve and surpass this target.
